Julius K. Nyerere
Julius Kambarage Nyerere was the first prime minister of independent Tanganyika (1961) and later became the first president of the new state of Tanzania (From 1964 to 1985). Among many other things, he is remembered for his introduction of the Arusha Declaration on Socialism and Self-Reliance.
